Interim spokesperson of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated via a series of posts on X that the report, currently circulating across some media platforms, was baseless and should be ignored by the public.
“The attention of ADC has been drawn to a story circulating that the @inecnigeria has refused to recognise the new leadership of our party under the Distinguished Senator David Mark. This story is entirely false and should be ignored,” he wrote.
Abdullahi disclosed that the ADC held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last week under the supervision of INEC, after which a formal notification of the leadership change was sent to the commission.
However, he noted that INEC had yet to update its portal to reflect the leadership transition, raising concerns about the delay. “Nigerians deserve to know: what’s the delay? What exactly is INEC waiting for?” he asked.
Despite the delay, the party appears to be forging ahead with internal consolidation. On Tuesday, Senator David Mark, the party’s interim national chairman, met with young members of the ADC’s National Working Committee, charging them to become the engine room of the party.
Mark encouraged the youth to take full ownership of the party, describing them as the future of the ADC and Nigeria as a whole. He pledged his support to ensure they are empowered to lead both the party and the nation.
During the engagement, Deputy National Welfare Secretary David Itopa called for a reduction in the cost of nomination forms for young aspirants. He also advocated for broader youth involvement in the party’s policy formulation process, urging the inclusion of experts outside the proposed 50-member policy team.
National Youth Leader Comrade Balarabe Rufa’i praised Senator Mark’s leadership credentials and expressed optimism in the direction the ADC is headed.
The event, attended by several key youth leaders, including Deputy National Secretary Hauwa Yusuf and Deputy Publicity Secretary Jackie Wayas, signals the party’s renewed focus on youth inclusion and grassroots rebuilding ahead of the 2027 general elections.
