The Kaduna State Police Command has officially summoned the immediate past governor of the state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, alongside several leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over allegations ranging from criminal conspiracy to incitement of public disturbance.

According to a police letter obtained by Njenje Media, the invitation stems from petitions accusing El-Rufai and others of mischief and causing grievous hurt. The letter, dated September 4, 2025, was signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Uzainu Abdullahi.

Those listed for questioning include Malam Nasir El-Rufai, Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popularly known as “30”), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini, aka “Mikiya.”

One of the invitees, while speaking to reporters, admitted that many of them only became aware of the summons through social media. “Yes, most of us only saw the statement on social media,” he said, refusing further comments.

This development comes barely a week after violent scenes disrupted an ADC meeting in Kaduna State—a crisis that sparked a bitter war of words between the state government and El-Rufai.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, the Kaduna State government accused the former governor of fueling division and attempting to destabilize the state. The government vowed it would not allow him to plunge Kaduna into another cycle of insecurity and ethno-religious tension.

The statement described El-Rufai’s actions as “provocative and dangerous,” alleging that his recent political gatherings were unlawful and deliberately orchestrated to cause unrest following the defeat of his allies in the August 16 by-elections.

El-Rufai, however, has denied all allegations, insisting that the ruling party in Kaduna is merely bent on silencing opposition voices.
