The 2023 Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party ( NNPP),  speaking to journalists on Saturday has said that he is discussing with his counterpart in the Labour Party,Peter Obi on the possibility of contesting for the presidency on the same ticket in 2023. He spoke in an interview with the BBC Hausa monitored by NjenjeMediaNews

According to Kwankwaso, ”Yes we are discussing with Peter Obi, or I will rather say a committee is working to see all that is necessary on teaming up with him, and our friends and relations have been coming to talk to us over the issue.”

The former Governor of Kano state explained that their teaming up is important, looking at the fact that the APC and PDP did not picked their Vice Presidential candidates from the Igbo tribe.

Recall that Obi is a former governor of Anambra State who has received a massive following from millions of Nigerians clamouring for a better nation. Kwankwaso is a former governor of Kano State that produced the largest number of votes cast, 1.964 million in the 2019 general elections and also the leader of the Kwankwasiyah movement with a large following in Northern Nigeria.
