A stunning twist has emerged in the controversy surrounding the claim of former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, that he graduated from Chicago State University (CSU)? NjenjeMediaNews reports.
It has now been revealed that one Mr Durojaiye Ogunsanya, who had claimed to be a data and public affairs analyst and also, President Bola Tinubu’s classmate at CSU, is a fake identity.
Mr Ogunsanya had appeared on a TVC news program claiming to have attended the university with Tinubu and graduated in the same year. He was also seen brandishing a diploma to prove his point.
However, Nigeria-born investigative journalist, David Hundeyin, has debunked the claim, noting that the name “Durojaiye Ogunsanya” does not exist anywhere outside of the news reports about his appearance.
Hundeyin also berated mainstream media for running the story without fact-checking the given identity of the “data and public affairs analyst”.
He further pointed out that the only time the name “Durojaiye Ogunsanya” appeared on the entire internet is in the news articles reported by TVC news which makes everything about him questionable.
Hundeyin also noted that the mainstream media has failed to report that the FBI is preparing to release 2,500 pages of its dossier on Tinubu, or that CSU yesterday in court disowned the forged certificate that Tinubu submitted to INEC.
He concluded that the incident is just another instance of mainstream Nigerian media being daft and incurious while queuing up to parrot an official line.
It has been established by David that the claim of Mr Durojaiye Ogunsanya being a data and public affairs analyst and also, President Bola Tinubu’s classmate at CSU is false. I David also noted how important it is that the mainstream media has a responsibility to verify claims before publishing them.
