During the raid, which was jointly carried out by the Nigerian military and the Department of State Services, seven suspects were arrested, while 17 underage females were rescued.
The Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Mohammed Gambo, who confirmed the arrest of suspects behind the illegal facility run as a baby factory, urged parents to be more vigilant and aware of the activities of criminal gangs.
He said, “Our troops on a special operation in conjunction with the Department of State Services, bumped into a baby-making factory, between the borders of Cameroun and Nigeria, at Belel, and they were able to apprehend seven suspects and 17 young girls between the ages of 19 and 21.
“We equally have two infants among them. Presently, we have just brought them to the Brigade headquarters and we are trying to profile them and then, subsequently hand them over to the DSS.”
