*INDIGENOUS CONTRACTORS TO PLAY PIVOTAL ROLE IN NATIONWIDE CONSTRUCTION UNDER PRESIDENT TINUBU’S RENEWED HOPE ADMINISTRATION*

In a strategic move to boost the nation’s economic recovery, the Honourable Minister of Works, *His Excellency Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON*, under the leadership of *His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR*, is prioritizing indigenous contractors in the construction sector. The focus is on providing more opportunities for local professionals, especially in the application of cutting-edge concrete technology in challenging terrains across Nigeria.

During an inspection of flood remediation work along the East-West Road in Delta State conducted by indigenous contractor Messrs True Tech Nigeria Ltd, the Honourable Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to leveraging local resources, skills, and capacities. He praised the work of True Tech Nigeria Ltd and expressed the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring value for money, job creation, and the timely delivery of projects.

Speaking on the innovative solutions employed in the construction, the Minister highlighted the use of multiple culverts to address washouts economically and the elevation of roads above flood levels. He announced plans to illuminate completed projects with solar lights, symbolizing the commitment to quality infrastructure under the administration.

Furthermore, the Minister directed Controllers of Works to enforce a standard road construction practice, insisting on a 70% stone base aggregate and limiting dust base to 30%. This directive was reinforced during an inspection of the dualization of Sapele-Agbor road, where he commended CGC Nigeria Ltd for their commendable work.

In a firm stance on project accountability, the Minister issued an ultimatum to Geld Construction Nigeria Ltd/Tracter Nigeria Ltd, directing them to justify received mobilization within 14 days for the rehabilitation of various road sections in Delta and Edo States. Failure to comply would result in the termination of the contract.
