Nigerian Government Bans Twitter, Uses Same Twitter To Announce The Ban

Federal Govt Suspends Twitter's Operations in Nigeria

The Federal Government Of Nigeria has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria, Njenje Media News reports.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the suspension in a statement signed by his ministry using its verified Twitter handle [@FMICNigeria] .

The tweet from the official Twitter account reads “FG Suspends @Twitter Operations in Nigeria”

Njenje Media News recalls that, the former American president, Donal Trump was banned from Twitter for misleading the public.


Trump did not suspend Twitter and Facebook in United state. By this action, Nigerians are now comparing the the two reactions as the difference between crude methodology and civility.
