The President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta Mbata, has issued a passionate appeal to Ndigbo across Nigeria, urging them to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration exercise.
In a video message made available to Njenje Media TV, Senator Mbata called on every Igbo person to quickly register and obtain their voter cards, describing it as a civic duty and an important tool for shaping the future. Watch the video below.
“I am calling upon Ndigbo, wherever you are in Nigeria, to quickly go and take advantage of the voter registration exercise that is going on right now. Go and get your card as quickly as possible,” he stated.
The Ohanaeze leader also used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Senator Azuta Mbata stressed that Kanu’s continued detention offers no tangible benefit and urged that he be allowed access to medical treatment.
“The government has no serious advantage in keeping him. It is important that the government ensures his safety and his welfare. And, the government must allow him to go and get medical treatment as quickly as possible. The government must adopt a political solution to this situation,” he said.
He concluded by emphasising the need for dialogue and political solutions in addressing national issues.
