Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has said the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has remained consistent in his position on the removal of petroleum subsidy.
Sani made the statement in a post on Wednesday while weighing in on the renewed debate over fuel subsidy and the positions of opposition politicians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to the former senator, Obi has refused to change his position on subsidy removal simply to gain public approval or make promises he considers unrealistic.
“Peter insists on maintaining the removal of petroleum subsidy; he remains consistent to his own vision; never changing his views to appease and please the gullible masses by promising the impossible. He is refusing to buy the throne with fake currency,” Sani wrote.
The comment comes amid renewed disagreements among opposition figures over the future of fuel subsidy. Obi has continued to support its removal while calling for measures to reduce the impact of the policy on Nigerians.
