*– Peter Obi at Tansian University*

During his visit to the School of Nursing, Tansian University, Mr. Peter Obi spoke passionately to the students about leadership, integrity, and the importance of building a better future for Nigeria.
He said:
“None of you here knows that Nigeria is borrowing money every day, and none of you knows what that money is used for. But in years to come, all of you will pay for it.
If it’s election time and I come here to share #5,000 each, many will vote for me and that’s the problem we have.
In my village, a school got burnt and no one cared to repair it for years. Children were learning under the sun. I decided to give them money to rebuild it because I cannot destroy the future of our children.
Just last week, I visited schools in Ibadan and other states. I spent over #60 million money that could have been used to buy votes but instead, I used it to help schools and support the future of our children.
When I was governor, I refused to steal public money. I wanted to create an environment where the child of nobody can become somebody.
We were able to give 570 people #1 million each to support students who came out with excellent results. If I had stolen money, that would never have been possible. One of those beneficiaries is now a school principal. I don’t even have a house in my village. Instead of using money to build a mansion, I used it to build three dormitories for students.
I could have lived for myself, but I chose to serve humanity. I gain nothing by being here, I can afford medical care anywhere I the World but, I care about your future and that’s why I’m here.
Health is wealth. The world is in need of nurses, and that’s why I encourage you to stay focused and build your future.
When I became governor, no School of Nursing in Anambra was accredited. I made it my mission to fix that. Go to Iyienu today and many others they are all accredited. I was here in March and donated, and I’m back again to contribute my little part to society. None of you invited me. I came because I believe in your future.
I wish you all greatness. Thank you.”

Finally, before he left the school, he presented a cheque of ₦10, 000,000.00 to the school the second time.
Mr. Peter Obi’s message remains clear, Leadership is about service, not self-interest. He continues to show, not just tell, what it means to put people first.
