The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with the robbery and killing of a young man whose body was found in a forest in Ngaski Local Government Area.
The victim, identified as Ibrahim Yahaya, 25, was discovered dead at about 8:30 a.m. on December 16, 2025, in Bakin Dutsi Forest, a remote area of Ngaski LGA, sparking concern among residents and renewed calls for improved security along forest routes often used by commuters and farmers.
Acting on what the police described as “credible intelligence,” operatives swiftly tracked and arrested the suspect, Aminu Adamu, of Yauri Local Government Area, at about 2:20 p.m. the same day.
The suspect was allegedly found in possession of a Haojue motorcycle believed to have been stolen from the deceased.

Confirming the development in a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the arrest followed intensive investigations launched immediately after the discovery of the body.
“Following swift investigative efforts, the police arrested one Aminu Adamu, aged 20, in possession of the motorcycle earlier robbed from the deceased.
“In line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation,” Usman said.
He added that the command remains committed to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice, while also stepping up measures to prevent similar crimes across the state.
The police spokesperson reassured residents that the situation is under control, urging them not to panic.
“Members of the public are encouraged to go about their lawful activities and continue to support the police with timely and useful information,” he said.
The incident comes amid ongoing security operations by the Kebbi State Police Command to curb violent crimes, particularly in forested and border communities, where criminals often exploit difficult terrain to evade arrest.
