Security operatives rescue 20 abducted villagers in Zamfara

Twenty villagers abducted by suspected bandits in Dunfawa village, Moriki District of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, have been rescued unharmed.

According to a report by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, the victims were freed following sustained pressure mounted on the abductors by joint security patrol teams operating in the Moriki axis.
The villagers were abducted on Saturday when armed bandits stormed Dunfawa village, causing panic among residents.

Security sources disclosed that the victims were rescued at about 4:00 p.m. after coordinated operations by security forces compelled the attackers to abandon their captives.
“All the 20 abducted persons were rescued safely without injuries. They were taken to a government hospital for medical check-up and subsequently debriefed before being reunited with their families,” the sources said.

The sources added that joint patrols have been intensified in and around the area to prevent further attacks and to support possible rescue operations in neighbouring communities.
Residents of Dunfawa village expressed relief over the successful rescue, while urging security agencies to maintain a sustained presence to deter future abductions and restore confidence in the area.
