The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, the 23rd of February 2021, confirmed former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai; former Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin; former Chief of Air Staff, Ibok Ibas; and former Chief of Naval Staff, Abubakar Sadique as non-career ambassadors, Njenje Media News reports.
It would be recalled that President Buhari on the 5th of February, sent their names to the senate for onward confirmation as non-career ambassadors with some section of Nigerians berating their nomination, with insinuations in some quarters that it was a plan to shield them from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for reported abuses committed by the Nigerian military under their watch.
