A Sokoto-based Islamic scholar, Mansur Ibrahim Sokoto, has accused Bola Ahmed Tinubu of neglecting Muslims after benefiting from their support in the 2023 elections.
Speaking during his Eid sermon in Sokoto, the cleric said the Muslim-Muslim ticket was used as a political strategy to secure victory, arguing that Muslims and the northern region have not seen meaningful benefits under the current administration.
He also urged fellow clerics not to promote the president in future based on religious sentiments, but rather on measurable performance in areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, the economy, and power supply.
According to him, support for any leader should depend on tangible achievements, adding that Nigerians should consider alternative candidates if there is no clear progress.
Attempts to get a response from the Presidency were unsuccessful as of press time.
