Elders Statesman and the Pioneer Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, (NESG), Professor Anya O. Anya, has explained why the members of the younger generation must come together with the older generation to fix the rot in the society, Njenje Media News reports.
The Nigerian Professor of Biology at the Ndigbo Lagos summit highlighted the areas of synergy the youths must look into.

In his words:

“There is a problem in the gap between the young and the older generation. And here, I would sound a note of warning to our young ones. I have a lot of confidence in Nigerian youth. Many of them are doing wonderful and fantastic things in this country that we are not even aware of. And, because there are such people, I have total confidence in the future of this country. But nevertheless, the youth must realize that the brilliant ideas must be moderated by experienced adults.”

While agreeing that the future of the nation is in the hands of the youths, Prof. Anya further enumerated the different roles the elders and youths have to play to ensure an egalitarian society.

“That is, the Elders should be under normal circumstance, the depository of wisdom and understanding and therefore, what we need is the coming together of the Youths and Elders in order to paint the picture of what the youths ought to be, because whether we like it or not, the future of this country is now firmly in the hands of the youths. They are the leaders. I have played my part including my Generation.”

” We are nowhere to give advice and not to start anything without them, and because of the present security situation in the country, which compounds the situation for them. Given the chaos that we have in the country presently, who we are cannot be adequately delved into and solved unless we face the problem of the state of our economy.

And there is no point going to long details about the long grammar we speak about the state of our economy. The truth is until the country can get past the phase of this development, then anything you are doing is only massaging the problem”, he added.
