President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Assistant Corps Marshal Mohammed Shehu as the new Corps Marshal/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Director, Information & Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, the appointment takes effect from May 20, 2024, and is for an initial period of four years.
Shehu replaces Dauda Ali Biu, who had been acting as the Corps Marshal of the FRSC since the retirement of the last substantive Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, in 2023.
President Tinubu has tasked the new appointee to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment, according to the statement.
The appointment is in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Act establishing the Corps.
Mohammed, an experienced officer, is expected to bring his expertise to bear in leading the FRSC in its mission to reduce road accidents and ensure safe motoring in Nigeria.
With this appointment, the FRSC is expected to continue its efforts to improve road safety and reduce the number of accidents on Nigerian roads.
