Two Immigration Officers killed, seven injured in road crash

No fewer than two officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were confirmed dead and seven were critically injured after a ghastly road accident in Kano.

The fatal incident which occurred near Kura town along Kano/Zaria high way Sunday evening involved an 18-passenger Nissan bus, an official vehicle of the immigration.

Confirming the ugly development, the spokesperson of Federal Road Safety, Kano state Command, Abdullahi Labaran told The Guardian on telephone that incident that involved nine men of the service ensued as a result of sudden tyre burst.

Although, a source within the service who would want his name on print revealed that four officers of the service dead in the accident and several others wounded as against the figure released by the FRSC.

The source disclosed that the victims of the accident along other officers were in a long convoy enroute to Abuja after attended a passing out parade ceremony held on Saturday in Kano, when the unfortunate accident occured.

The bodies of those that lost their lives and those critically injured have been taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, The Guardian learnt.

Effort to get official reaction of the NIS was not successful after several calls put across to the spokesperson was rejected.
