ENUGU—In a recent viral video, social media user @nwanyi_ocha lambasted the beggarly behavior of officials at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. The video highlighted the frustrations of passengers who have experienced harassment and demands for money from airport staff.
In response to these complaints, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo SAN (@fkeyamo) issued a statement acknowledging the issue of extortionate begging by airport officials. He assured the public that measures were being taken to address the matter.
Contrary to past experiences, a traveler who recently passed through the Enugu airport reported a significantly improved experience. “For the very first time in as long as I can recall, all officials on duty were very courteous, and none accosted me for any money,” the traveler stated.
