Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency have successfully rescued three nurses who were abducted by gunmen at a primary health centre in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the development at the command’s headquarters, revealing that the health workers were freed around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday.

He also disclosed that a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who were kidnapped earlier at Pelebe community along Oda Road in Akure, have been rescued.

According to Adeleye, the father and son were abducted between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Friday but were recovered by operatives at about 1:00 a.m. following a fierce confrontation with the kidnappers. The three nurses, who had been taken earlier, were later rescued and are currently receiving medical care at an Amotekun facility.

Reports indicate that armed attackers stormed the primary health centre in the Oke Ijebu area of Akure around 2:00 a.m., forcefully gaining entry into the government-owned facility. The assailants abducted at least three health workers on duty, while others managed to escape.

A patient at the centre recounted that the gunmen arrived in a bus, bundled the victims into the vehicle, and fled to an unknown destination.

Reassuring residents, Adeleye emphasized that protecting lives and property remains a top priority. He urged the public to support security agencies with timely and useful information, stressing that collective vigilance is key to improving safety across the state.
