Suspected terrorists have attacked Oro-Ago, the hometown of Kayode Alabi, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing two people and injuring a local security leader.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, throwing the community into panic as heavily armed assailants reportedly stormed the area in large numbers, firing gunshots and attempting to overrun a nearby police station.
Residents said the attackers moved from house to house, breaking doors and spreading fear. The local security chief, popularly known as Olu-Òde, was shot in the arm while trying to defend the community.
Eyewitness accounts described the attack as a coordinated assault that left residents fleeing for safety. Several neighbouring communities, including Ahun, Oke-Oyan, Ago-Olomo, Ajegunle, Omugo, and Oke-Daba, have reportedly been deserted.
Many residents have called on the government to deploy security forces urgently, warning that the situation could worsen without immediate intervention.
As of the time of reporting, authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
