Enugu State Government has confirmed that its state-owned airline, Enugu Air, will commence operations before the end of March 2025, Njenje Media News reports.

The initiative is aimed at improving air travel access to the state and addressing flight challenges for travelers.

Governor Peter Mbah, in his 2025 budget presentation, allocated N41.1 billion for the acquisition of four new aircraft for Enugu Air. The government also plans to concession Akanu Ibiam International Airport and construct an international cargo terminal as part of efforts to position Enugu as a key commercial hub.

The airline is expected to offer both passenger and cargo services, facilitating exports of agricultural products and attracting investors to the Southeast region. This move aligns with Governor Mbah’s broader strategy to revitalize Enugu’s economy and boost key industries.
