Amid the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a faction led by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed has approached the court seeking an ex parte order to convene the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
This move follows attempts by some PDP governors, led by Mohammed, to remove the acting national chairman, Amb Umar Damagum. The effort has intensified the party’s internal conflict, particularly among stakeholders loyal to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, who oppose the removal.
Previously, the Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order preventing the party from removing Damagum. In response, Mohammed’s faction has now filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Zamfara State, seeking judicial approval to hold the NEC meeting.
