Nigerian Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on United States President Donald Trump and the international community to pay close attention to the forthcoming Osun State election.
In a statement addressed to Trump, Davido expressed concern over what he described as growing tension surrounding the election, warning of possible violence, intimidation and disruption of the democratic process.
The singer urged authorities to ensure that residents of Osun State are able to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely and peacefully.
“Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” Davido said.
He also appealed to the United States and the international community to monitor the election and encourage relevant authorities to protect voters and ensure that their votes are respected.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he said.
Davido’s statement comes as political activities intensify ahead of the Osun State governorship election, with concerns over security and the conduct of the electoral process drawing attention.
