Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa has emphasized the critical role universities play in strengthening the country’s security and long term resilience. Speaking at a convocation ceremony, he described higher education institutions as essential drivers of innovation, research, and strategic thinking.

According to him, a strong university system is key to developing the human capital needed to tackle complex security challenges, including terrorism, cyber threats, and geopolitical risks. He noted that investment in education directly contributes to national stability by producing skilled professionals and informed citizens.

The minister also pointed out that universities can serve as hubs for technological advancement, helping to generate solutions tailored to Nigeria’s unique security environment. He encouraged closer collaboration between academic institutions, government agencies, and the private sector.
