The Federal Government has launched a new initiative aimed at modernizing policing across Nigeria through the deployment of artificial intelligence powered tools. The project is part of a broader digital transformation agenda designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and response times within law enforcement agencies.

Under the plan, police stations nationwide will be equipped with enhanced connectivity and smart systems capable of supporting data driven operations. Officials say the technology will help officers process information faster, track cases more effectively, and strengthen coordination between units.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and other stakeholders, with a focus on building infrastructure that supports modern policing standards. Authorities believe the upgrade will also help address longstanding issues such as poor record keeping and delayed investigations.

Security experts have welcomed the move but stress that success will depend on proper training, maintenance, and accountability mechanisms. If effectively executed, the project could mark a significant shift in how policing is carried out in Nigeria, aligning it more closely with global best practices.
