Emefiele: Nyesom Wike Praises President Tinubu

Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) late Friday. Wike has praised the President’s bold and timely decision and has commended him for approving uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial officers in the country, NjenjeMediaNews reports.

Godwin Emefiele had served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria since 2014. During his tenure, he was criticised for his policies, particularly the Naira redesign.

Wike has been one of the most vocal critics of Emefiele’s policies. He has also been a strong advocate for the implementation of uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial officers in the country.

President Tinubu’s decision to suspend Godwin Emefiele as the CBN Governor and to direct him to immediately hand over the bank’s Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate) Folashodun Shonubi was met with approval from Wike.

The former Rivers State Governor commended the President for his bold and timely decision and expressed his appreciation for the President’s approval of uniformity in the retirement age and pension of judicial officers in the country.
