Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has once again insisted that he won Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election, despite the courts having dismissed his legal challenges against the declared results.
In an interview with BBC News, Obi was questioned about his continued claim that he won the election and his earlier allegations that the poll was rigged.
“Frankly I don’t like going back to the past but I still think what I think,” Obi said.
Asked whether he had evidence to substantiate his claim that he won the election, the former Anambra State governor replied:
“Well there is no evidence, everything is not based on evidence”
The interviewer challenged Obi over his position, pointing out that he could not focus on the future while disregarding issues from the past.
Despite the challenge, Obi remained firm in his position and reiterated:
“I won the election”
