ICPC Introduces ‘Integrity Policy’ to appraise MDAs

A Peer review score card tagged “National Ethics and Integrity Policy” for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) has been introduced by The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Njenje Media News can report.

Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, ICPC Chairman made this known in a discussion with media experts in Abuja on Tuesday.

The anti-corruption czar said the aim of the initiative is to help appraise what the MDAs are up to and promptly identify those who may have the predisposition to corruption.

Owasonoye affirmed that the roundtable discussion was conceived with the intention to discuss the “structure of the ethics and integrity policy” , adding that it was not about activities, events and actions that collapsed Nigeria’s ethical values nor issues of violation of ethical standards but to state the structures stated above.

In his words;

“As you all know there are so many MDAs I think probably five hundred in Nigeria and we are unable to scope all of them at the same time given our own limited resources and human capital,” he said.

He said this year the commission tried to change the approach, by digitizing the process.

“Basically what we do is to administer a score card on MDAs and they are to address some key issues like administrative, managerial and financial functions and how they relate to the publics,” said Owasanoye.
