Petrol prices at MRS filling stations in Abuja have risen to N975 per litre, up from N875, making them more expensive than outlets operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other major distributors such as Ranoil, AA Rano, and Sharon.

The price increase followed a rise in the gantry cost at Dangote Refinery, prompting retailers to adjust their pump prices. Sources at MRS, speaking on condition of anonymity, attributed the hike to escalating crude oil prices amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

As of Tuesday evening, Brent crude traded at $80.75 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was priced at $73.78 per barrel. Other petrol stations, including NNPCL, also raised pump prices in response to the refinery’s adjustment.

MRS is owned by Idris Dantata, half-brother of Aliko Dangote, the President of Dangote Refinery. The recent price change reflects broader supply and global market pressures affecting domestic fuel costs.
