The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered an illegal herbal product manufacturing facility in Agege, Lagos State, following a report published by The Guardian on October 10, 2026, concerning herbal products bearing fake NAFDAC registration numbers.
Following the report, an investigative team from the agency conducted surveillance and discovered three variants of Asheitu Adams Bitters bearing NAFDAC Registration Number A7-1827L.
Verification through NAFDAC’s NAPAMS portal established that the registration number belongs to Greentol Cough Syrup, confirming that it had been fraudulently used on the herbal products.
The agency disclosed that the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer was absent during the operation, while the company manager was arrested for further interrogation.
NAFDAC urged members of the public to provide credible information about suspected illegal manufacturing activities.
The agency advised the public to contact its call centre on 0800-1-623322 or 0700-1-623322, or send an email to reforms@nafdac.gov.ng.
