Nigerians are facing a nationwide reduction in electricity, expected to continue from February 12 to 15, 2026. This follows the start of a scheduled maintenance by Seplat, in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), on its gas production facilities during the same period.

The maintenance has disrupted supply from the national grid. The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) confirmed that power stations including Egbin, Azura, Sapele, Transcorp, and NDPHC’s Sapele, Olorunsogo, and Omotosho plants are affected. NISO stated that full gas supply is anticipated to resume on February 16, 2026.

Electricity distribution companies have already reported reduced supply. Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) notified customers in Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states of load management. According to EEDC spokesperson Emeka Ezeh, customers served by its subsidiaries—MainPower, FirstPower, and Eastland—are impacted by the reduction.
