*NDC-POSN Condemns Alleged Government Harassment and Intimidation of Peter Obi, Calls for Protection of Democratic Rights and Rule of Law Ahead of 2027*

The NDC-Peter Obi Support Network (NDC-POSN), an NDC-registered support group committed to uniting Nigerians for a Peter Obi presidency in 2027 and advancing the vision of a New Nigeria built on good governance, accountability, and opportunity for all, has noted with deep alarm and grave concern the recent statements by our principal, the NDC Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi.

Speaking during an interview on the “With Chude” platform hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, Mr. Obi expressed serious fears for his personal safety and political survival, alleging systematic frustration of his livelihood and personal activities by the Federal Government.

He stated:

_”With the way this government is going, I may not even be alive to contest the 2027 election. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is deliberately frustrating. I face frustration every day. They recently locked my car at the airport.”_

He further elaborated:

_”Not even a candidate. I might not even be alive. I’m telling you… Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it. Deliberately so. Everything. So, there is even a possibility, if they have the opportunity, I will not be alive.”_

_”It’s not an accusation. I know. I get frustration every day… They are attacking everybody who is in opposition personally. I am being attacked personally. Everything. Even to provide me with necessary things that I should have been entitled to, not at all.”_

Mr. Obi cited specific examples, including an incident at the airport where his vehicle was locked while others were not, and described how associates now avoid greeting him publicly or inviting him to personal events such as weddings out of fear of government reprisals.

The NDC-POSN views these developments with the utmost seriousness. Any form of targeted harassment, economic sabotage, social isolation, or intimidation directed at political opponents undermines the foundations of our democracy, violates constitutional rights, and threatens the peaceful conduct of the 2027 general elections.

We stand in complete solidarity with Mr. Peter Obi and the entire Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Team. We categorically reject and condemn all acts of intimidation and undue interference in the lives and legitimate activities of opposition figures and their supporters.

We therefore call on:

1 The Federal Government to immediately investigate these allegations thoroughly and transparently, and to ensure that no individual or agency engages in acts that endanger lives or frustrate lawful political participation.

2 Security agencies — including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services — to provide adequate protection to Mr. Obi, his family, and all political actors exercising their democratic rights.

3 All stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic project to uphold the rule of law, respect for human rights, and the sanctity of the electoral process as we approach 2027.

The NDC-POSN reaffirms its unwavering commitment to mobilizing supporters across Nigeria and the diaspora for the NDC ticket of Mr. Peter Obi and Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in the 2027 presidential election. Attempts to silence or intimidate will only strengthen our resolve to work peacefully and lawfully for a New Nigeria where every citizen can aspire and contribute without fear.
