NKATA NDI INYOM IGBO FOUNDATION (NNIIF).
Gentlemen and ladies of the press, we welcome you all to this pre-event press briefing.
We bring you greeting from the founder/President General, Board of Trustees/Advisors and members of Nkata Ndi Inyom igbo Foundation (NNIIF). We are a socio-cultural group of well accomplished Igbo women by ancestry or marriage. We would be having our annual conference in Abuja on the 3rd of December 2024 at the Sandirilia Hotel. The theme of our conference is, “Driving Transformation through Value Re-orientation, Inclusive Leadership and Sustainability”. We welcome all to this pre-conference press conference.
We must appreciate the great partnership our organization has shared with the great Nigerian media since our organization was birthed in 2020 while the world was battling the Covid-19 pandemic. Nkata in Igbo means conversation and we all know the value of conversation in fostering unity, arbitration, interventions and all forms of inter personal relationships from family to even global levels of bilateral and multilateral communications. For instance, the United Nations is the apex global conversation platform.
The Founder and President General of the group is Iyom Josephine Anenih mni, a renowned social and gender advocate who was a former minister of women affairs and woman leader. The group’s motto is “Partnering for Development” seeing that both genders can actually work together for development. As the African proverb goes, “no one can clap with one hand”. It is with a view to the complimentary roles of both men and women that the idea of an urgent need for nkata (conversation) was birthed to address preesing regional and national issues.
We have had two conferences before this year, one hosted in Lagos and the 2023 conference hosted by Enugu state government. This year’s conference was deliberately set for the nation’s capital Abuja for us to bring the conversation to a national platform.
The theme of the conference is, “Driving Transformation through Value Re-orientation, Inclusive Leadership and Sustainability”. To us, the urgent need to have nkata around the loss of our shared values and what remedies we can adopt to foster unity and development. It would be happening at the Sandrilia hotel Abuja on the 3rd of December 2024.
The Conference will be chaired by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt.Hon. Benjamin Kalu, His Royal Highness, Khalifa Sanusi II, (Sarkin Kano) will be the Father of the Day, Dame Timi Agary will be Mother of the day. We have an array of speakers;
Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, H.E Dave Umahi, H.E Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Osita Chidoka, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, H.E Labaran Maku, Dr. Stella Iwuagwu, H.E Erelu Olabisi Adeleye-Fayemi, Dame May Ikokwu and a host of other speakers who are passionate about the need for a national introspection.
We aimmensley appreciate the tremendous support we have received from the Nigerian media who are great partners in progress. We believe that the country direly needs series of conversations for the exchange of ideas, more national bonding and functional productivity dialogue that can aid development. We believe that we as women are imbued with the qualities that can drive development. We have both the drive and natural instincts to seek and create solutions to problems without recourse to wars and conflicts.
Thank you all.
Yours sincerely,
*Nnedinso ogaziechi*
