“No Business Or Any Other Economic Activity Will Thrive In The Midst Of Insecurity” -- Peter Obi

Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi has decried the security situation in the South East.

The former governor of Anambra State in a speech for the just concluded South East Economic and Security Summit said no business and indeed any other economic activity would thrive in the midst of insecurity.

Peter Obi used the opportunity to apologise for not being physically present at the summit as he was out of the country at the time.

“This summit which focus mainly on security and negative impact of the economy of the South East has come at the most auspicious time. It is very necessary that as a people, we come together and put our heads together to find a lasting solution to this problem of insecurity in our homeland”, he said.

“Our mainstay as a people is business. No business and indeed any other economic activity would thrive in the midst of insecurity.”

The LP candidate charged stakeholders in the South East to put their minds and work in unity and mutual trust, to find a way out of the insecurity problem that is alien to the region.

“Let me therefore commend your excellencies, the governors of the South East for initiating the idea of the summit and working together to make this a reality.”

“Let me urge everyone at this summit and those of us who are not able to attend in person to speak up, contribute ideas, offer suggestions and be part of the initiative or actions that would be agreed upon at this summit to bring an end to the problem of insecurity in our region.”
