Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has welcomed the Federal High Court judgment directing Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop presenting himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Imo West Senatorial District.
The court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish Okorocha’s name as the party’s authentic candidate for the senatorial district.
Reacting to the ruling on Thursday, Okorocha declared that justice had finally been served.
He recalled an earlier electoral controversy in which he alleged that one individual manipulated more than 300 results, allowing a candidate who finished fourth to emerge as the winner. He said the circumstances surrounding the Imo West senatorial contest were similar.
“Justice has finally prevailed. This was the same thing that happened when one person wrote more than 300 results, causing someone who came fourth to become number one.
“I appreciate the Nigerian judiciary, and it is evident that the Presidency is tired of this nonsense,” Okorocha said.
The former governor praised the judiciary for upholding justice, adding that the ruling indicated the Presidency was no longer willing to tolerate impunity.
He also appealed to his supporters in Imo West Senatorial District to remain peaceful and celebrate the court’s decision.
