The All Progressives Congress, APC, Osun State chapter, has frowned at the series of threats by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop the forthcoming local government in the state, NjenjeMediaNews reports.

The State Chairman of the APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo on Tuesday, condemned the statement by the state caretaker chairman of the PDP, Akindele Adekunle, who described the local government election fixed for October 15 as illegal.

The development came on Monday when the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) fixed that local government elections in the state will be held on October 15.

The PDP vowed to use all lawful means including mobilising the masses in peaceful protests against the “illegal and atrocious plans of OSIEC against the state.”

Meanwhile, Famodun in the statement said Governor Gboyega Oyetola is still enjoying the protection of the constitution as the subsisting bonafide governor of the state and would not allow any irritant to dictate to him on how to run his government.

The APC told the PDP to approach the court instead of threatening to bring down the government of Oyetola.

The APC statement also reminded the PDP handlers led by Adekunle that the law of sedition is firmly in force to deal with anyone who is contemplating an insurrection against any lawful authority.

The statutory security outfits should also be at alert to nip in the bud any plans of any individual or group of renegades whose intention is to promote chaos in the state.
