Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, Media Executive and Convener of the Village Boys Movement, has accused Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, of circulating a doctored P.M. News front page purporting to show a 2006 report about former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi.
Ezeoke made the allegation in a statement addressed to Bwala, following a September 17, 2026 clarification by P.M. News that the purported newspaper front page was fake.
P.M. News said the image had been digitally altered, with the photograph of the original subject replaced with Obi’s photograph and the original name on the newspaper’s rider also changed. The newspaper further said it never published a story titled, “How I Was Cured of Madness” about Obi.
According to Ezeoke, Bwala’s circulation of the material after P.M. News had disowned it amounted to the dissemination of altered material presented as an authentic newspaper publication.
“You are a lawyer, a Notary Public, and the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication. That office carries a responsibility to clarify public information, not to rehabilitate a forgery after the publication it imitates has publicly disowned it,” Ezeoke said.
He questioned why Bwala would circulate what he described as misinformation for political purposes, arguing that public officials entrusted with communication have a responsibility to ensure the integrity of information disseminated to Nigerians.
Ezeoke also called on the presidential aide to apologise to Nigerians and the public over the matter.
Bwala is Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, a role focused on communicating the administration’s policies and programmes.
P.M. News has urged the public, journalists and media organisations to disregard the altered image and refrain from attributing the purported Peter Obi story to the newspaper.
