The Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly Screening Appeal Committee, chaired by Abdul Mahmud, has confirmed the disqualification of several aspirants linked to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Out of 98 aspirants who took part in the screening exercise on Saturday, 33 were cleared while 65 were disqualified. The disqualified candidates are widely believed to be aligned with Governor Fubara.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, the committee chairman confirmed that 19 appeals have already been received from some of the affected aspirants.
He added that the window for submitting appeals will close on Wednesday.
According to the committee, the final list of cleared aspirants will be released after the expiration of the appeal process.
