The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended 27-year-old married man Albert Koko-ete Hanson and 18-year-old Wisdom Okon from Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The duo are alleged members of an armed robbery syndicate that targets affluent women on hookup platforms, luring them to hotel rooms in Port Harcourt.

One of the victims, identified only as Faith, recounted that she was contacted by a hotel worker who claimed a guest required the services of a “runs girl.” She went to the hotel and was taken to a two-bedroom apartment where the suspects were staying. Faith said the men showed her a photo of another woman, claiming Faith owed five million naira the woman had allegedly taken from them.

According to Faith, the suspects confiscated her phone and forced her to unlock it, but found no money in her account. Another female victim was tied and blindfolded in the bathroom. The suspects later stripped both women, sexually assaulted them, and restrained them again, allegedly threatening to harvest their organs. A third female victim managed to alert friends via text while being forced to open her banking app. The hotel security intervened and rescued all three victims.

Albert Koko-ete reportedly confessed to the crimes. Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer CSP Grace Iringe Koko urged young women to avoid hookup culture due to its risks and advised learning skills for self-reliance. She noted the suspects targeted wealthy women with iPhone 15 devices and had reportedly made over 18 million naira from such crimes over six years. The suspects will be arraigned after investigations conclude.
