THE RISING SPATE OF INSECURITY IN ANAMBRA STATE AND SOLUDO’S MONUMENTAL FAILURE.

I woke up this morning to be saddened by the traumatic news of the attack on the Anambra motorcycle showroom of Innoson Vehicles by unknown gun-men. More worrisome is that the gunmen whisked away in abduction the company’s secretary, financial manager and a security officer.

That is one of the many incidents that have hit Anambra under the careless and carefree watch of governor Soludo. To say that the hoodlums are having field days in Anambra as though there is no check is an understatement. It is so incessant that the people are living in palpable fear.

The primary responsibility of any government is to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. That mean a government is said to have failed if it cannot guarantee the people this responsibility as in the case of the Soludo led government in Anambra State. The Prof has demonstrated that he lacks the least clue to govern the state.

I watched as Chief Valentine Ozigbo was advising the governor on the solutions to the disturbing menace and cautioning that he would be shown the exit door if he continued to shelve responsibility. That was at the recently concluded interactive section with Anambra professionals in Abuja.

Ozigbo should admit that the man he has been advising isn’t ready for governance and get prepared to for the gauntlet. We can’t have a knight in shining armour like him, well equipped with the apposite capacity and competence and continue to make do with a clueless and incompetent bunch.

If you watched VCO analysing the situation in Anambra State at the forum, you would observe beyond doubt that the solution to the challenges of the state is at his fingertips. That explains why colleagues and associates hold him in high esteem in character, ideology, competence and approach to issues which define leadership. No wonder he said “act on people’s testimonies about me”. What confidence?

Anambra State is the pride of Ala Igbo especially in terms of commerce, trade and industrialization. The manufacturing hub of West African and home of the highest number of billionaires in Africa. How can you leave your fate in the hands of an unprepared fellow and allow him to run roughshod of your destinies? Ụnụ Ọ ga ahapụ ụzọ piewe ọhịa (would you leave the road and be walking in the bush)?

Doctor Nnamdi Azikiwe would be turning in his grave now. Ojukwu- the great Ikemba, Alex Ekwueme, Chinụa Achebe and many other founding fathers of the State of the blessed memory will be doing the same thing. This is not the state they left behind. Anambrarians should therefore rise to the occasion and defend the legacies of those legends.

Good thing, the state still has living legends like Peter Obi, the most popular; most prominent; most famous and most respected Nigerian political force globally. He shall point the people to the right direction when the time comes. The onus now lies with the stakeholders of the state to line up behind him and follow his direction. It’s time to kick out the monster before the monster kicks them all out (of the state)!
