Umbrella body of Nigeria’s 36 State Executives, The Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) has affirmed that there was no order to herdsmen in Ondo State or any part of the South West region to leave, Njenje Media News reports.

The NGF clarified that the speech of Ondo Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was misunderstood and misconstrued in the media and was only directed at government reserves and it’s registration.

Njenje Media News had reported minutes back that the leadership of the NGF led by Fayemi , with 5 other governors in attendance had a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Dr. Fayemi , the NGF Chair said Governor Akeredolu’s order for Herders to leave the Forest reserves generated a lot of hoopla which according to him led to the unfortunate development in Oyo State.

He explained that Arakunrin Akeredolu did not at any time event herdsmen from the state but asked they register if they want to operate within the reserves or rather vacate if they fail to do so.

The Ekiti Governor further posited that the action was to be against criminals and not fulani herdsmen.
