Troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY are continuing intensive clearance operations against the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), across their Area of Operations. The mission is focused on restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
On 3 March 2026, the troops, operating alongside other security agencies and with air support from the Nigerian Air Force, carried out operations at Camp Gbadoanya in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State. The joint force moved to dismantle remaining IPOB/ESN elements in the camp and surrounding locations.
During the operation, multiple insurgent encampments were located, thoroughly searched, and neutralized. Items recovered include pump-action guns, locally fabricated dane guns, rifle magazines, assorted rifle parts, ammunition belts, and cutting equipment. Additional recoveries included Biafran currencies, materials for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), musical instruments from the Biafran Army Band, a Biafran flag, and a Biafran Army Headquarters flag. The flags were destroyed, and the Nigerian flag was raised in their place.

Operations continued on 4 March 2026, with troops dismantling additional camps within Camp Gbadoanya. An IED manufacturing site was discovered and destroyed after careful exploitation. Recovered items included welding machines, drilling and filling machines, car batteries, an electrode welding handle, twelve locally made firearms, rifle components, and other materials used in IED construction.
