Troops Rescue Another Chibok Girl and Children from Terrorists, Neutralize Three in Ambush

In a significant development in the fight against terrorism, Nigerian Army troops operating in the North East have achieved a notable success by rescuing Lydia Simon, one of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls who had been held captive by Boko Haram insurgents for several years. Lydia, who was listed as serial number 68 among the missing Chibok girls, was rescued along with her three children during Operation Desert Sanity III in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. At the time of her rescue, Lydia was five months pregnant and hails from Pemi Town in Chibok.

Additionally, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Nigerian Army troops deployed for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North Central region successfully ambushed and neutralized three terrorists who were on a mission to cause havoc. Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops intercepted the armed terrorists in Tse Kpese Community, Zaki Biam Local Government Area of Benue State. Engaging the terrorists in a gun battle, the gallant troops neutralized three of them and recovered three AK 47 rifles and four magazines.
