Ahead of the 2027 poll, the National chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, says Abuja, the federal capital territory (FCT), is too important to be left in the hands of opposition political parties in the country.

Ganduje spoke while receiving hundreds of decampees from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) led by the chairman of the Abuja Area Council (AMAC), Chris Zakka Maikalangu, at the Abuja old parade ground.

Ganduje described the development as indicative of the fact that the electorate in Abuja would vote en masse for the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration in the 2027 poll.

The Kano-born politician noted that, as the seat of power and the city that serves as the rallying point of Nigerians, it would be odd for Abuja to be left in the hands of the opposition political parties.

Ganduje, who referenced how President Tinubu included Abuja indigenes in his cabinet and other appointments, remarked that the gale of defection to the APC spoke volumes of the level of acceptability of the party in the FCT.

The Minister of Special Duties, Zaphania Jisalo, who addressed the mammoth crowd at the event tagged “Abuja Unity rally,” heaped praises on President Tinubu for living up to his promises to carry along Abuja indigenes in his administration.

Jisalo said he is a living testimony of the President’s commitment toward the empowerment of Abuja indigenes since he is an integral member of the federal executive council (FEC).

The Minister of State, FCT, Hajia Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, urged the electorate to sustain their support for the APC-led administration, which is leaving no stone unturned in uplifting their well-being.

The opposition Labour Party (LP) swept the presidential and senatorial polls in 2023 to the chagrin of the APC-led administration.

Dignitaries at the event include the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, FCT area council chairmen and councillors, and party stalwarts from across the country.
