The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has announced the resumption of International Flights at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
In a circular to all Aviation stakeholders and all foreign airline operators flying into Nigeria, also made available to Njenje Media News, the Director-General of the NCAA, Captain Musa S. Nuhu, announced that partial resumption will begin tomorrow the 18th of August 2021.
He premised the NCAA’s decision on the announcement by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 that international flights can partially resume and added that the flight operation is predicated in compliance with Advisory Circulars.
Njenje Media News recalls, that the airport has been closed for two years for international flights, first for the runway repairs, later due to COVID-19 restrictions. Once reopened, it is expected that Ethiopian Airlines will resume the sale of tickets to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.
Also, recall that on the 6th of August 2021, Njenje Media TV had a 1-on-1 interview with the Chairman, South-East Governors Committee on Akanu Ibiam Airport Rehabilitation and Palliatives, Engr Chris Okoye who hinted that the Airport will reopen this August.
