A fire has broken out at a section of the newly launched Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals in Lagos, which boasts a production capacity of 650 million barrels per day, Njenje Media News Reports.
A video clip shared obtained by Njenje Media News, it shows flames engulfing a part of the refinery, raising concerns about the extent of the damage and potential impact on operations. According to initial reports, workers have been evacuated and are currently outside the affected area. Emergency response teams are on the scene, and efforts to contain the fire are underway.
In a press release, the Dangote Group stated:
“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th June. There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty.” The statement was signed by ANTHONY CHIEJINA.
