Yesterday evening, gunmen abducted three individuals—a company secretary, a financial manager, and a security officer—at the Innoson Motors factory in Nnewi, Anambra State, Njenje Media News reports.
The incident occurred mere minutes after the CEO of the company, Chief Innocent Chukwuma reportedly left the premises.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the armed assailants stormed the factory along Owerri Road, Nnewi, targeting the staff before fleeing the scene with the victims. The motive behind the kidnapping remains unclear at this time.
In response to the attack, the Anambra Joint Security Forces have launched an offensive operation aimed at securing the safe release of the abducted individuals and apprehending the culprits. According to a statement by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, rescue efforts are already underway, with officers leveraging initial intelligence gathered from the scene.
SP Ikenga urged members of the public with any information that could assist in the investigation to contact the Command headquarters in Awka or any nearby police station. Citizens are encouraged to use the emergency number 112 or call 07039194332 for swift action.
The Anambra Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to the victims’ safe rescue and emphasized that further updates would be communicated as the situation develops.
This latest kidnapping highlights ongoing security concerns in the region, raising questions about the safety of prominent businesses and their employees in Anambra State.
