A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged fake Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Justice Mohammed Umar terminated the proceedings following the Federal Government’s request to withdraw the charges, explaining that Adeyemi would be transferred to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for a fresh arraignment.
At Monday’s proceedings, Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF), moved the application seeking the termination of the charges.
Oyedepo informed the court that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF) had reviewed Adeyemi’s case file and the charges filed by the Inspector-General of Police, identifying certain loopholes in the prosecution.
He explained that the documents Adeyemi allegedly forged while operating the fake agency fell under the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court, rather than the Federal High Court.
