Donald Trump Jr ties the knot in Bahamas ceremony, father absent
Donald Trump Jr has married Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson in a private island ceremony in the Bahamas, with President Donald Trump not in attendance.
The couple reportedly had a quiet wedding over the weekend, even though a Florida marriage licence shows the marriage was officially recorded earlier on Thursday at the home of Anderson’s twin sister, Kristina, in West Palm Beach.
The main celebration was later held on Saturday on a secluded island in the Bahamas, where about 40 guests gathered, including his siblings Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump.
A source told People the event took place on a “glorious day in a place where they often visit,” describing it as an intimate gathering with close family and friends.
Plans are also reportedly in motion for a third celebration at the White House, which would include President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Explaining his absence, President Trump said on Truth Social that “circumstances pertaining to Government,” and his “love for the United States of America,” prevented him from attending the ceremony in the Bahamas.
He had earlier told reporters, “You know, this is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things.”
