Prominent activist and Yoruba Nation advocate, Sunday Igboho, has disclosed that he is awaiting Federal Government approval for the takeoff of his proposed security outfit, “Iru Ekun Security Network”.

The initiative, whose Yoruba name translates as “leopard’s tail”, is designed, according to him, to confront criminal groups operating in forests across the South West, particularly those linked to kidnapping and other violent crimes.

In a statement released to journalists on Monday, he said all required registration steps have been completed and relevant documents have already been submitted for official consideration.

He added that the outfit is prepared to operate in line with the regulatory framework introduced by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for private security organisations.

He explained that the group is willing to work with the Police, DSS, Army, NSCDC and other security agencies in efforts to flush out armed criminals and restore safety in rural communities.

He also noted that the current federal administration has demonstrated commitment toward tackling insecurity nationwide, including in the South West.

According to him, coordinated action and proper regulation are necessary to ensure effectiveness and accountability among security-related groups operating in different states.

He stressed that insecurity has continued to affect farming communities, making peace and stability essential for food production and rural livelihoods.

Governor Seyi Makinde had earlier issued an executive order to regulate private security associations, citing the need for clearer coordination as security challenges become more complex.
